PCW to name the most gender-responsive agency on Women’s Month

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) is set to announce the country’s first most gender-responsive government agency on March 28, 2014.

The PCW has shortlisted Cooperative Development Authority (CDA), Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and Technical Education Skills (Technical Education and Skills Development Authority), as the agencies whose qualifications met the “GADtimpala’s” basic eligibility criteria.

Said criteria includes the submission of GAD Plan and Budget (GPB) and Accomplishment Report (AR) to PCW for the last three consecutive years, implementation of gender-responsive programs to address on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), BPfA (Beijing Platform for Action) and Magna Carta of Women (MCW), and has a functional GAD Focal Point System, among others.

Prior to the awarding ceremony, the PCW has conducted series of validation to verify the documents presented by the aforementioned agencies.

Winners will receive a plaque of recognition and cash prize.

Aside from the GADtimpala, an awarding ceremony to recognize the winning short film entries and the winning MCW Mobile Apps as well as the accreditation of National GAD Resource Pool will be held on the same occasion at the Diamond Hotel Manila.

Said ceremonies serve as the culminating activity of the 2014 Women’s Month Celebration.
