PCW, NATCCO seals partnership to promote women’s economic empowerment

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and the National Confederation of Cooperatives (NATTCO Network) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to support the government’s efforts in women economic empowerment.

Under the deal, the PCW will provide technical and financial support for NATTCO to implement activities under the Gender-Responsive Economic Actions for the Transformation of Women (GREAT Women) Project 2. These activities support the promotion of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as a way of creating jobs in nine cooperatives and as a major scheme for alleviating poverty, to be implemented within two years.

The GREAT Women Project is a governance and capacity development project of the Philippines and Canada’s Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) that aims to promote and support a gender-responsive enabling environment for women’s economic empowerment, particularly those in microenterprises.
