GREAT Women Project Recognition and Citations to NGA, LGU and WME Partners


Cognizant of the exemplary contribution and commitment to Gender and Development and Women’s Economic Empowerment, the Philippine Commission on Women and the Government of Canada showed their appreciation by awarding special recognitions and citations to national government agencies and local government unit partners during the National WEE Forum held September 19-20, 2013 at the Crowne Plaza, Ortigas Center in Quezon City

The special recognitions “WEE Responsive NGA” was given to seven (7) NGAs NGA partners namely DOST, PHIC, TESDA, PCFC, DTI, DOLE-OSHC and DENR-FMB, and “WEE Responsive LGU” was given to fifteen (15) LGU partners namely Jagna, Iloilo Province, Balilihan, Baybay, Bula, Sta. Cruz, Pavia, Quezon Province, Barugo, Pili, Kiangan, Midsayap, Naga, Gen. Nakar, Lagawe. Such recognition was made to these NGAs and LGUs for developing and implementing WEE responsive policies, programs and tools, establishing WEE structures and mechanisms, establishing partnerships and convergence for WEE, and replicating WEE in other areas.

The special recognitions for “Outstanding Partner WME Group” was given to seven (7) women microentrepreneur groups namely Metro Naga Development Council-Cagbunga Crabpaste Producers’ Association of Gainza (CCPAG), Ifugao-Namulditan Camote Processors, Quezon-Kilos ng Nagkakaisang Ina Para Sa Kabuuang Pagunlad ng Nakar (KINIPAN), Bohol-Jagna Calamay Makers Cooperative (JACAMACO), Iloilo- Pavia Entrepreneurs’ Multi‐Purpose Cooperative, Leyte-Barugo Roscas Producers’ Association (BRPA), Davao del Sur-Tagabuli Women Deboners’ Association and PALMA Alliance-Rural Improvement Club of Midsayap for their contribution to the promotion WEE and assisting other women microentrepreneurs.

In the span of the seven (7) years of project implementation is that women microentrepreneurs’ attitudes, mindsets and lives were transformed because government duty bearers provided the resources and opportunities to make WEE happen.
