Philippine Delegation Highlights Some Achievements in the Field of Social Development During the Third Session of the UNESCAP Committee on Social Development


The Philippine Delegation headed by Ambassador Jocelyn Batoon-Garcia highlighted the Philippine Government’s achievements in the field of social development during the Third Session of the Committee on Social Development (CSD3) of UNESCAP held on 18-20 August 2014 in Bangkok.

CSD3 reviewed social development trends and challenges in the context of the development agenda beyond 2015 and considered the issues of gender equality and women empowerment in preparation for the 20th anniversary of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action of the 4th World Conference on Women, among others.

The other members of the Philippine Delegation were Philippine Commission on Women Executive Director Ms. Emmeline Verzosa and Planning Officer IV Maecel Angelica Cayanan, NEDA Regional Director Ms. Mayla Faye Cariño, Miriam College Executive Director and Philippine Representative to the ASEAN Commission on the Promotion and Protection of the Rights of Women and Children (ACWC), Post’s Alternate Permanent Representatives to UNESCAP Ms. Princess Tomas-Tayao and Anna Marie Santos, DAWN General Coordinator Ms. Josefa Francisco and Young Women Collective Coordinator Ms. Maria May-I Fabros.
