PCW, Zonta Cavite ink deal on raising awareness on VAW

The Philippine Commission on Women and the Zonta Club of Cavite signed a Memorandum of Understanding on raising awareness on Violence Against Women (VAW).

PCW Executive Director Atty. Kristine Yuzon-Chaves, PCW Chairperson Sandra Sanchez-Montano, and Zonta Club of Cavite President Maricel Montano-Lujero inked the deal in a short ceremony at the PCW Conference Room on November 19, 2020.

The deal will solidify Zonta Club of Cavite’s support to the campaign to end VAW, with the group committing to print and distribute PCW’s advocacy materials on VAW in the Province of Cavite and other areas of their choice. The agreement will be in effect until June 30, 2022.

PCW and Zonta-Cavite are one in “promoting women’s empowerment, gender equality, and building awareness on VAW”, read the memorandum.  In line with this, this cooperation strengthens the dissemination of relevant information on VAW in different towns and cities of Cavite, one of the largest provinces in the Philippines in terms of population, aiming to help prevent VAW as well as encourage VAW survivors to seek help.

PCW Executive Director Chaves and Chair Montano expressed gratitude to Zonta Cavite for doing its part in promoting a VAW-free community. Ms. Montano-Lujero vowed to support this advocacy not only through this partnership but also other activities aimed at fighting VAW.
