PCW renews Partnership with SCGAD Region IV-A


After one year of successful engagement, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) and the Sub-Committee on Gender and Development (SCGAD) IV-A renewed theirPartnership Agreement(PA) during the conduct of the 4th Quarter SCGAD Meeting on November 23, 2015 at Privato Hotel, Shaw Blvd., Pasig City.

The partnership will help orchestrate mainstreaming of GAD in the various development initiatives in Region IV-A. This will also lead to the efficient provision of GAD technical assistance to Local Government Units (LGUs), Regional Line Agencies (RLAs), State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) and non-government organizations (NGOs) towards the development and implementation of gender responsive policies, plans and monitoring of GAD efforts.

The PA was signed by SCGAD Chair and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Regional Director Luis G. Banua, SCGAD Secretary and Chief of NEDA Plan and Policy Formulation Division Mr. Donald James Gawe, PCW Executive Director Emmeline L. Verzosaand PCW Technical Services Division Chief, Ms. Nharleen S. Millar. Also present to witness the signing were representatives from different regional offices, LGUs and SUCs in CALABARZON namely NEDA, Department of Education (DEpEd), Civil Service Commission (CSC), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), Provincial GAD Office of Quezon, Provincial Government of Rizal, Cavite State University (CVSU), Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), and University of Rizal System (URS).

The signed PA spells out the roles and responsibilities of SCGAD IV-A and PCW. This will be in effect for a year and may be renewed upon mutual decision of both parties.

Next in line under the partnership will be the Awarding for the Outstanding Regional GAD Implementers/GAD Focal Point System during the 4th RDC Full Council Meetingon December 10, 2015. This will be followed by various trainings and activities in year 2016.
