PCW presents Women’s Priority Legislative Agenda to the Committee on Women and Gender Equality


Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Deputy Director Lorenza A. Umali presents the Women’s Priority Legislative Agenda (WPLA) to the 1st Meeting of the Committee on Women and Gender Equality (CWGE) of the 15th Congress on September 14, 2010. The WPLA seeks to repeal the discriminatory provisions of existing laws as well as formulate and adopt new legislations that promote women’s empowerment and gender equality. PCW will push for the immediate passage of the following legislative agenda/issues: Amendment and repeal of certain provisions of the Revised Penal Code, New Family Code, R.A 8353 (Anti-Rape Law of 1997), R.A 7877 (Anti-Sexual Harassment Law), Domestic Workers; Rights of Kasambahay, Magna Carta of Workers in the Informal Economy, Local Sectoral Representation, Reproductive Health, and Strengthening the Code of Muslim Provisional Law.
