PCW Joins the Observance of the National Census Month 2010

The Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) joins the country in the observance of May 2010 as National Census Month pursuant to Proclamation No. 2028.

The National Statistics Office (NSO), in accordance with Batas Pambansa Blg. 72, is set to conduct the 2010 Census of Population and Housing (CPH) on May. The said census is designed to take an inventory of the total population and housing units in the country and collect information about their characteristics. NSO has been conducting the integrated survey every 10 years since 1980.

As the country’s machinery for the advancement of women, the PCW supports the national government’s efforts in providing up-to-date and comprehensive data on the population to aid legislators, policymakers and decision-makers in understanding the situation of women and men and making informed decisions for women and men to realize their full potential to contribute to national (political, economic, social and cultural) development.
