PCW joins 2017 One Billion Rising to end exploitation against women

On Valentine’s Day, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) joined estimated 3,000 individuals who called for work, land, peace and ending Violence Against Women (VAW) at the Liwasang Bonifacio in Manila.

Participants from the PCW along with other agencies like the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) and various organizations expressed their support to the One Billion Rising Revolution Movement in rallying once more with the global movement to rise against women’s oppression and exploitation.

Now on its fifth year, One Billion Rising is celebrated globally in over 200 countries. The Philippines is the third country to execute the program next to New Zealand and Australia this year. The annual event in the Philippines, set every Valentine’s Day, is being spearheaded by Gabriela.
