PBBM’s statement on the 2024 18-Day Campaign to End VAW

My warmest greetings to the Philippine Commission on Women as you lead the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.

This annual campaign is an important forum to reaffirm our commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of every woman. This year’s observance is a call to action, addressing all forms of violence against women-whether physical, psychological, or sexual-alongside all other forms of harm.

This noble endeavor sheds light on the grim realty that women continue to face, and to effectively address this, we must ensure accountability and proper enforcement of the law, while also promoting public awareness to challenge harmful norms and empower individuals to take a stand. In order to achieve lasting change, it is vital that we work together to create safer environments, uphold women’s rights, and prevent further harm.

Let us unite with a renewed sense of purpose to break the cycle of violence. Through collective action, informed policies, and deep community engagement, we can work towards a Bagong Pilipinas where every woman is seen, heard, lives free from fear, and is empowered to thrive in society. Together, we can make a difference.

I wish you a successful campaign. Mabuhay ang ating mga kababaihan!
