NAPC-NCRFW MOA signing

NCRFW Executive Director Emmeline Verzosa and NAPC Secretary and Forum Lead Convenor Domingo Panganiban signed a Memorandum of Agreement at the Forum on Hunger Mitigation, Population Management and Poverty Reduction last 29 January 2009 at the ISSI Building of the University of the Philippines in Diliman.

The National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) and the National Anti-Poverty Commission (NAPC) entered into agreement to provide financial literacy training to trainers in two GREAT Women Project sites. With the agreement, NAPC joined the roster national government agency partners of the GREAT Women Project. This five-year capacity development and governance undertaking led by NCRFW endeavors to build an enabling environment for women’s economic empowerment.

NCRFW and NAPC will work together to deliver a Training of Trainers on financial literacy, which is aimed at increasing the women poor’s knowledge on basic microfinancial services and asset-building programs, financial skills for household and entrepreneurial management, and client responsibilities and rights when accessing microfinance services. Participants of the Training of Trainers will later cascade the gender-responsive financial literacy training to major players in the delivery of microfinance services for women, such as microfinance institutions, local government units, people’s organizations and women microentrepreneurs.
