Malinao elects local women’s council officers



Malinao, Aklan Province–The municipality of Malinao facilitated the conduct of an election for a new set of Local Council of Women officers for 2013-2014. Elections were held at the Municipal Hall last September 2013, upon the reorganization of a GAD Focal Point System.

The Local Council of Women is composed of women’s organizations, such as Rural Improvement Clubs (RICs), cooperatives and associations with strong advocacy on gender and development. This local council is consulted in Malinao’s policymaking and programming processes for women and gender.



Malinao Mayor Wilbert Ariel Igoy inducted the officers, while municipal local government officer Erwin Rotil facilitated the election and AECID MCW Project local area coordinator Maranatha Estrada bore witness to the activity.

Elected officers were Lavenia Nacubuan (Chaiperson), Soledad Yetyet (Vice Chairperson), Floramae Rosal (Secretary), Esperanza Quitco (Assistant Secretary), Imelda Trinidad (Treasurer), Genela Pangyarihan (Assistant Treasurer), Milagros Suriaga (Auditor), and Rosemelinda Idorita (Public Relations Officer).
