Magna Carta of Women Information Caravan

The Magna Carta of Women (MCW) Information Caravan is an awareness raising activity aimed at publicizing the MCW and drumming up support for its implementation mainly among local government units (LGUs), state universities and colleges (SUCs) and non-government service providers.

The Caravan will be conducted in select provinces in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao (Occidental Mindoro, Albay and Pampanga in Luzon, Siquijor and Northern Samar in Visayas, Surigao del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte in Mindanao). The caravan per province will have a two-day forum featuring discussions on the salient features of the MCW and other anti-violence against women (anti-VAW) laws. Some 200-300 participants composed of members of the Liga ng Barangay, municipal and provincial officials, various women’s groups (NGOs and local cooperatives), media, SUC officials, students, student organization/council representatives, civil society organizations (CSOs), etc. will be invited to each forum. An output of this activity is a set of commitments or action plan by LGU and SUC officials of each province to support the dissemination and implementation of the laws and to address the more prominent and critical GAD/women’s issues in their localities.

This activity has funding support from the Office of Senator Pia S. Cayetano.
