GREAT Women Project partner boosts service delivery for local women microentrepreneurs

GREAT Women Project local government partner, Metro Naga Development Council (MNDC) in Camarines Sur, establishes One-Stop Women Enterprise Development Desks (OSWEDDs) throughout MNDC Alliance municipalities.

The establishment of OSWEDDs is a local government response for improved service delivery to empower women microentrepreneurs and is a result of capacity-building and partnership under the Gender-Responsive Economic Actions for the Transformation of Women (GREAT Women) Project., a project led by the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) and supported by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

Taking a step further to empower women economically, MNDC recently partnered with the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC) School of Graduate Studies to strengthen these women enterprise desks. MNDC’s partnership with the GREAT Women Project enables the local government unit to create synergy among civil service organizations and other institutional partners to effect women’s economic empowerment. Under the Project, MNDC is slated to establish common service facilities for women microentrepreneurs, and will develop and formulate policies on women’s economic empowerment.
