Gov’t agencies, private organizations offer treats on International Women’s Day



Women and girls from various parts of the country may enjoy discounts and freebies in celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8.

First launched in March 2015 during the National Women’s Month Celebration, Serbisyo Para Kay Juana was offered to honor, recognize and thank women for their vital role in society. Now on its third year, the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) enjoined more government agencies and private organizations to offer such treats in order to make the month-long celebration for women more publicly known and felt.

For three straight years, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) through Metro Rail Transit Corporation and Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) offer free MRT and LRT 2 rides to female passengers on March 8 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

This year, more government agencies offer additional treats for Juanas.

The Office of the Ombudsman ups the ante by offering totally free clearance application fees to walk-in clients, from last year’s 50% discount.

The Intramuros Administration treats female visitors with free admission tickets in paid facilities within the walled city namely: Fort Santiago, Baluarte De San Diego and Casa Manila.

Women and girls and their families may also enjoy free admission tickets in paid facilities in Rizal Park in Manila courtesy of the National Parks Development Committee (NPDC).

The National Museum also offer the following treats as part of the celebration: 10% discount on books with free copy of the book “Hidden Lives, Concealed Narratives: A History of Leprosy in the Philippines: for a single receipt worth Php2,000.00 and 10% discount on selected souvenir items in all/shrines and landmarks. Female visitors have freebies or surprises for a single receipt of Php200.00.

Private corporations such like Grab Philippines also supports the nationwide celebration by offering P50.00 discount using promo code PCWMNLFORUM.
