Gov’t agencies, private organizations offer free rides and treats on 2018 International Women’s Day

Women and girls are in for a treat this International Women’s Day on March 8, 2018 with this year’s edition of Serbisyo Para Kaya Juana.

First initiated in March 2015, Serbisyo Para Kay Juana offers treats, free services, and discounts as a way of giving back to women and recognizing their significant contributions in society. This year, the Philippine Commission on Women has enjoined more agencies and private organizations to join the activity and celebrate this special day for women and girls.

The daily commute will be less of a hassle for those taking the Manila Metro Rail Transit (MRT) 3 and the Manila Light Rail Transit (LRT) 2, with the Department of Transportation offering free rides for all women this Thursday during peak hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Female commuters taking a different route can also take the Pasig River Ferry for free for the whole day thanks to the Metro Manila Development Authority.

Uber also offers a special promo code worth up to PHP 150 for all female and male participants attending the Women Inspiring Women Forum at the GSIS Theater, Pasay City.

Women who need Ombudsman Clearance are also up for treats as the Office of the Ombudsman waives clearance fees for all walk-in female clients nationwide from March 5 to 9, 2018.

Women and girls can also take the day off on Thursday and visit museums and parks. The Intramuros Administration offers triple treats to all female visitors with free admission to paid facilities, namely: Casa Manila, Baluarte de San Diego, and Fort Santiago.

Meanwhile, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) offers free admission for women visiting the Lights and Sounds Museum in Intramuros (for the first 100 female visitors only), and the Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village (for the first 50 female visitors only). Female guests can also avail discounts and freebies from other TIEZA-owned properties such as the Banaue Hotel and Youth Hostel, and the Club Intramuros Golf Course.

For the curious-minded, The Mind Museum is offering free upgrades to All Day Passes for women who purchase regular three-hour Museum tickets on March 8; while The National Museum is screening the shows “Journey for A Billion Suns” and “Hayabusa” at the National Planetarium also on March 8.
