Cruz-Avisado discusses how the blatant misuse of padrino, palakasan and bata-bata system, greed for money and power, abuse of authority, and sexism contribute to the denial of justice during the Forum on Transformative Justice and Book Launch of “The Intertwining Culture of Patriarchy, Corruption, and Impunity: Journey in Advocacy for the Transformation of the Justice System” and “JAJA: Justice for Arbet, Justice for All”. Atty. Avisado, known for living the feminist dictum “the personal is political” hopes that the new breed of lawyers would change the landscape of the justice system and adhere to truth telling and pay attention to human rights issues including gender discrimination. The activity, held on December 1, 2010 at the Veritas Hall, Ateneo de Manila Law School, is in-line with the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women.
