CIDA Head of Aid Laurenne Garneau visits NCRFW

Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Head of Aid Laurenne Garneau and CIDA Senior Programme Officer Myrna Jarillas visited the National Commission on the Role of Filipino Women (NCRFW) last 7 October 2008. NCRFW briefed the newly-appointed Head of Aid of the developments in implementing the CIDA-supported Gender-Responsive Economic Actions for the Transformation of Women (GREAT Women) Project.

Garneau commended NCRFW for the pioneering work that it is doing through the GREAT Women Project. She acknowledged the efforts of the Commission in changing mindsets – recognizing and valuing women’s paid and unpaid work in the domestic and productive spheres and how these contribute to the economy and shifting paradigms that women’s concerns are not only in the social sector. The Head of Aid challenged NCRFW to build stronger partnerships with the economic experts, agencies and organizations in view of project implementation.

Chairperson Yao expressed its sincerest gratitude to the support and trust of CIDA to NCRFW in promoting gender equality in the Philippines.
