PCW launches GADtimpala 2013


The search is on for the most outstanding gender-responsive government agency at the national level as the Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) launches the first “GADtimpala Awards.”

“GADtimpala 2013” aims to recognize the outstanding achievement or performance of government agencies in upholding the rights of women through mainstreaming gender equality and women’s empowerment through policy formulation, establishment of local structures or mechanisms and effective implementation of gender-responsive programs, projects, activities or services.

National government agencies, state universities and colleges (SUCs), government-owned and controlled corporations (GOCCs) that developed and implemented Gender and Development (GAD) programs in line with the United Nations (UN) Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW), Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Beijing Platform for Action (BPfA), and national laws on women such as Magna Carta of Women (MCW) can be nominated.

Nomination period started on September 15 and will end on November 15, 2013. Winners will be announced in March 2014 during the Women’s Month celebration.
