What is the PCW-AECID Project?

The project “Institutional Strengthening of National and Local Governance on Human Rights and Economic Empowerment with a Gender Focus: Implementation of the Magna Carta of Women”, is funded by the Agencia Española de CooperacionInternacionalpara el Desarollo(AECID) or the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation.

The Magna Carta of Women, R.A 9710, is a comprehensive women's human rights law that seeks to eliminate discrimination against women by recognizing, protecting and fulfilling and promoting the rights of Filipino women.AECID supports PCW in fulfilling its mandate to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the provisions of MCW through gender mainstreaming. The project aims to enhance capacities of PCW, other government agencies, and selected LGUs to respond to gender and women’s rights issues in order to contribute to the reduction of gender disparities and inequalities in economic, social and political spheres through implementation of the MCW law.
